Here are few knitting techniques for tapestry/picture knitting:
Combination knitting means knitting through the front loop, and instead of wrapping the yarn around – just picking it up. I find it much easier on the hands, but have a look and try it yourself… I also call it Persian knitting, and I think it’s the same as Russian knitting.
Quilting style of knitting is a technique I developed that imitates quilting.
That can be done with squares (influenced by the beautiful water color quilts):
Or by free flowing lines/small areas of different colors (even though knit in one piece):
Weaving style imitates weaving. It is a bit more challenging as it is actually knitting 2 pictures simultaneously. But it’s not as hard as it seems because one of the pictures is made very simple.
